The recall was the result of an FDA inspection of the manufacturing facility during which the possible contamination was identified. No illnesses or adverse health effects resulting from this product have been reported to date.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Customers who have purchased any of the recalled product are urged not to consume it and return it to Dierbergs for a full refund. Consumers with further questions or concerns may call 832-803-9295 Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CDT.
