Todd Vasel, Dierbergs Markets
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - September 5, 2013
Chobani, Inc., of Twin Falls, Idaho, issued a voluntary recall Thursday of 91 UPCs of Greek Yogurt.
The company detected some mold in yogurts made in an Idaho facility. The potentially affected product, distributed nationwide, has an IMS number of 16-012 and best-by dates of Sept. 11-13 to Oct. 7-13 . The complete recall list is available on the FDA’s website.
Dierbergs Markets removed the specified yogurts from its backroom or shelves Tuesday, prompted by a product withdrawal notice from Chobani for quality issues. Nearly all Dierbergs Chobani products came from a New York state plant unaffected by the recall. Most Dierbergs stores never carried the recalled products; those that did reported single digit package sales.
Chobani has ceased the distribution of the product due to reports of product bloating and swelling and some claims of illness as the company continues its investigation to identify the root cause.
Customers who purchased the products at Dierbergs with the above IMS number can return it to any Dierbergs location for a full refund.
