Grilled Italian Sausage with Pepper Relish
Grilled Italian Sausage with Pepper Relish
6 Italian sausage links 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 medium red bell pepper, seeded and thinly sliced 1 medium green bell pepper, seeded and thinly sliced 1½ cups thinly sliced onion 1 clove garlic, minced ¼ cup white balsamic vinegar or white wine vinegar 2 teaspoons sugar 2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce 6 hot dog buns
Place sausage links on grid over medium heat; grill turning links often until golden brown and internal temperature is 155˚ F, about 20 to 25 minutes.
In large skillet over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add peppers, onion and garlic; cover and cook stirring frequently until vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Add vinegar, sugar and hot sauce; cook uncovered stirring frequently until liquid evaporates, about 4 to 5 minutes. Serve warm, or cool to room temperature.
Serve sausage on buns with relish.
Makes 6 servings
TIP Pepper Relish can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Bring to room temperature, or heat in microwave on high for 3 minutes before serving.
