Jan knows how to throw a dinner party! Lucky for us, she shares this talent for entertaining, along with a love for cooking, with students in her Dierbergs cooking classes.
Jan grew up in a family that was always cooking together, and so she quickly learned to love food. She went into dietetics and nutrition in college, choosing to study the scientific side of cooking. After getting a graduate degree in business and working as an accountant for several years, Jan wanted to get more involved with her passion. She saw an ad for a Dierbergs position and was soon a Dierbergs School of Cooking instructor.
Jan’s cooking classes reflect her passion for entertaining. She hopes to teach her students not only a good menu for entertaining, but how to make it easy and fun. When she’s not teaching or doing some entertaining herself, Jan likes to take trips to her lake house and enjoys traveling. She also loves getting to spend time with her two sons, one of whom is following in Jan’s food-loving footsteps by attending the Culinary Institute of America in New York.
Jan’s Cooking Tip: “You eat with your eyes before your mouth, so spend time on the presentation of your food. If it looks good people automatically think it will taste better.”
