Unprecedented Number of Store-Management Positions to be Filled at Dierbergs Hiring Event

Dierbergs Markets is hosting an all-store hiring event to fill positions across its stores including a record number of jobs in store management.

The event, scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, will be held from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the DoubleTree Westport Plaza, 1973 Craigshire Road.

The company is filling part- and full-time positions, with emphasis on store maintenance positions and opportunities in deli, meat and seafood departments. A significant number of positions in those departments, and store departments companywide, offer immediate placement in management roles, an unusual occurrence for what is typically a predictable fall hiring cycle for grocery retail.

Dierbergs most intense period of growth was in the 1980s, when the company jumped from five to 14 stores and employment topped 3,000. Many of those individuals are still with the company, but are at or near retirement.

“It’s really a unique, positive story for a retailer,” said Erica Campbell, manager of talent acquisition at Dierbergs. “We have a sizable number of Dierbergs Associates who have contributed 25 years or more and have announced their impending retirements. It’s cause for us to celebrate their accomplishments and it creates opportunities for others to join our team, either as managers or to get in the management pipeline,” Campbell said.

Campbell said she anticipates hiring up to 40 individuals for management roles.
